Watch your husband!!!
Vogue is a magazine that I read every month, for a lot of women it is a bible, a way of life. I recently became overwhelmed with excitement when I came across hundreds and hundreds of previous Vogue's in the bound periodicals section of my school library. I was like a kid in a candy shop. My first reaction was to find the oldest Vogue that our library had, which happened to be from 1930. Vogue goes back further than that even but I decided to grab the oldest and began scanning like crazy the oldest and the newest vogue that I had from this month.
I found that I was interested in the old Vogue for extremely different reasons than the ones from my generation, mainly for the absurd layouts, although a lot of the type treatments were so beautiful. Also, for the crazy messages they were sending women back then.
I decided to piece together my own large scale page of Vogue, we had to include a 4 color process using cmyk, so I used an image from the current Vogue compared with crazy ads and messages from the 1930's Vogue. The "poster" turned out looking special and torn out, old, and completely detached, just as I wanted it!
I plan to expand this project for my final in screenprinting, making it an installation and possibly creating a large scale book.

Abyss poster
Here is a poster I just did for screen printing, it had to only be 3 colors. I was interested in making a poster about discovery, specifically about discovering the "Abyss". I used creatures that I found fascinating and the small type has the date and time "0400" which is 4am and the location to meet which is in longitude and latitude, it is Bangkok. and then I specified the dock to meet to go discover the abyss in a little submarine.

Tone Packaging design
For Illustration and Product class we had to redesign packaging for a bath/body product or tea. I chose a soap I currently use, Tone. It is a soap made from Dial and I purchase it at Target for about 4 bucks. It smells amazing but the packaging needed some refinement I thought. I want to clean it up and still use elements from the old packaging like, the rain drop and I used an outline of flowers for texture on the side.
Also, I wanted to keep the splashes of bright colors, it fits with the scents and product.
I made real life labels that I printed in color on clear transparency for lotion and body wash.
I started with a "trend board" and then made "initial designs" then I landed on my finals which are shown last.

TING TINGS
TREND BOARD...

I just redesigned the logo for The Ting Tings. I made the type in illustrator, along with the imagery. I screen printed the t-shirt and then put a poster together, showing the identity system that I used, there are also elements on the poster that could be used again with another t-shirt or poster.

Blog from scratch!
FAKE LORE
So I worked on this illustration for 5 hours till 4 in the morning only to find out the next day that its not due until next weeks class!
At least its done though!
The assignment was to illustrate a Folk tale or urban legend or a cryptid. I did St. Augustine, it was an Urban legend about a giant squid that washed up on the shores of St. Augustine, Florida and come to find out it wasnt actually a giant squid but a giant chunk of sperm whale blubber!

Top 10 Book
This is an assignment that I am in the process of working on for Typography 2.
It is a catalogue about our Top 10 Favorite songs, albums, etc...
I am very pleased with the way it is going.
My book is about all the songs I used to listen to with my mom. It is 80's early 90's inspired.
Here is my preface:
In this book that you are holding you will not find the latest billboard jams to juke your booty too, nor will there be any tears shed because it reminds you of your ex that you dated sophomore year of high school.
What this book will do is show you apart of my childhood growing up with a rad mom in the 80’s. There are a plethora of songs that will fill your nostrils with the spicy, sweet scent of Liz Claiborne perfume, cake your eyelashes with mascara and dress you in neon and leg-warmers.

Spin it.
Ok one of my favorite things in the world is being in water and BATHS!
I think this is sooo rad!
Taking a fresh approach to an established form is at the foundation of innovation and we applaud anyone who can pull it off - like Ron Arad who has created this incredibly unique luxury bath concept, which turns the traditional bath on its head, literally. Aside from its obvious aesthetic appeal - it's like a giant art installation for your bathroom - its also multi-purpose, transforming from bath to shower as the whole unit revolves. Arad worked with Italian bathroom design brand Teuco to bring the concept to life. At this stage it's still a prototype but Arad is confident that with Teuco's production expertise his bath dream will soon be a reality in our own homes. We want one now. -Lisa Evans (via Sept issue of Wallpaper magazine)

come look at these cool things
this could quite possibly be the coolest parking ramp I have not been in.

I dont really know how I feel about this "spa" it reminds me of a cross between a hospital and sanitarium with warm water everywhere.ahh
The aquatic complex Les Bains des Docks (animation here), designed by the 2008 Prtizker-prize winning architect Jean Nouvel has just opened in the historical Port of Le Havre. Inspired by the Roman thermal baths, the 5,000-square-meter complex offers an eerily beautiful atmosphere of tranquility with the fantastic play of natural light soothing the eyes, the masterful acoustics pleasing the ears, and the pools and treatment areas taking care of the rest of the body.

I am usually pretty picky about photography...

But Todd Selby's "The Selby" photography is amazingly beautiful.
I love the difference between the cluttered and minimal, contrasting personal spaces he shoots these people in, almost all are pretty famous and extremely artistically talented.

Graduation project
“Buitenbeentje” (Dutch for odd man out) is a research on the qualities of poly-urethane resin.
This research is the result of my fascination for everything that differs the normal: the odd man out, the freaks.
Certain appearances that are so ugly and disgusting that they become interesting.
The research is about capturing a moment of movement.
I am sorry I have been to Costa Rica.....
I have neglected my blog =(
BUT....I have some pretty amazing things to share from when I was there.
When we were in Ocatal, we were getting ready to leave the beach that we were at and out of no where a thousand fish got beached and it was crazy, all 6 of us ran down to the shore and started chucking them back in the ocean to try and save them. It was one of the funnest times I have ever had in my life. The locals probably thought we were crazy! haha
The ones that didnt survive, we thought we would try to gut and eat haha but its hard to get good fillets off of sardines ha! We ended up making a tuna casserole and drinking some Cubra Libres!(thats rum and coke in a can)...
Here is a link to the videos...

“Reversible Destiny” Lofts
Built by a pair of artist/architects who believe that “It’s immoral that people have to die”, these reversible destiny lofts are intended to outlaw aging and it’s consequences. It wasn’t our intention to get super deep here...we like ‘em for their whimsy quotient and their colorful exterior.
These are pretty cool, I want one in my backyard!
